Not exactly.  gsft replaces the Ghostscript fill algorithm with the
FreeType scan-line converter when filling paths generated by
interpreting characters.

The monochrome scan-line converter of FreeType performs drop-out
control, and results in an increased screen readability.  

Ghostscript font machinery is left untouched.
