Note that the gimp printer drivers are a separate distribution (see
gimp-print.sf.net) from the gimp image-editing application. It may well
have portability problems, but I expect they're much less serious than
for a gtk application.
There is also an 'stp' driver that calls the gimp-print library directly
in GNU Ghostscript 6.53. This will probably go away in favor of the ijs
interface once that's officially released.
Note also that HP and Epson have both released vendor driver suites that
support the ijs interface (binary-only in epson's case, unfortunately)
We don't actually maintain many of these drivers, and part of the idea
with ijs is place responsibility for them more clearly in the hands of
their respective developers. To encourage conversion, we'll probably
begin to slowly remove those drivers with an ijs alternative from the
default build, and eventually from the source tree altogether.
