[gs-devel] Printer alignment in CUPS?

I've used the alignmargins and alpgn.ps files by rote to build
tweaks for my .ppd file that apparently adds some postscript
fragments which set /.HWMargins and /Margins in the setpagedevice
dictionary.

Now I want to print DVDs, a media which does not have corners
to point at with arrows, so I want to devise some tweaks
without the benefit of an available rote procedure. My story

Can anyone point me to some information on exactly what
those mysterious settings actually do? If not, I guess
I'll start poking them with a stick and measuring what
happens to the printed results :-).
