Hi all,

Thank you to Till and Ray for weighing on this subject. After
considering both approaches I realized that it doesn't have to be an
either/or situation. So my plan is to write a raster driver first, then
write the more feature complete version afterwards. I'll probably reply
to this thread from time to time as development progresses, and will
probably have questions even at the raster level of driver development. :-)
