After getting ghostscript-8.64rc1 installed most of our local systems
(including GNU/Linux MIPS, which was still in the build process at the
time of my last report), this morning, I discovered a serious bug in
this release which is present in all platforms that I checked, and was
not there in 8.62 or earlier.

When gs-8.64rc1 is run to display a multiple-page PostScript or PDF
file, the page image is not cleared and rewritten at each
carriage-return from the keyboard, so page images after the first
overlap, making the screen output unreadable.

I can reproduce the bug with PostScript and PDF files from various
sources, include Microsoft Office, OpenOffice, StarOffice, and
(La)TeX, plus PDF documents downloaded from the JSTOR journal
repository, and from the journal Nature, where pdfinfo reports

	Creator: InDesign: pictwpstops filter 1.0
Producer: Acrobat Distiller 6.0.1 for Macintosh

This bug also affects displays with gv, which invokes gs behind the
scenes.
