[gs-devel] strange font splitting in -sDEVICE=pdfwrite

Hi,

I've encountered a strange font splitting done by gs
-sDEVICE=pdfwrite: it emits 2 CFF fonts instead of 1 for no apparent
reason to me. Even stranger: reordering the /Encoding or changing a
glyph name from /Phi to anything else fixes the problem. Could you
please explain why this font splitting happens, and how to disable it?
I've tried with gs 8.54, 8.61 and 8.64.
